2016 SOFTAIL Fat Boy S FLSTFBS Motorcycle Headlight Visors & Trim
Headlight visors and trim rings are two of the most obvious custom touches that owners frequently add to the 2016 Harley-Davidson Softail Fat Boy S (FLSTFBS), which has a bold, blacked-out appearance from the factory. To improve the bike’s overall posture, add protection, or change the look, these accessories are made to fit over or replace the factory headlamp trim.
Designed to fit the 7-inch headlight on models such as the FLSTFBS, this is the original OEM chrome headlamp trim ring. It keeps the vintage Harley gleam and appearance.
Installing a Chrome Headlight Trim Ring
Tools Needed
Torx T27 or Phillips screwdriver, depending on the headlamp screws
To prevent scratches on the headlight and fender, use a soft cloth or towel.
Gloves are optional (to prevent fingerprints on chrome).
1. Installation Steps
Place the bike on a sturdy stand or kickstand and park it on a level area.
Disconnect the negative battery cable and turn off the ignition (opening the headlight housing is safer, but it’s optional).
2. Remove the Stock Trim Ring
In case a screw falls, place a soft towel underneath the headlight area.
At the bottom of the headlight trim ring, in the six o’clock position, find the retaining screw.
Carefully remove the screw with the screwdriver or Torx.
Pull the stock trim ring off and forward gently.
3. Install the New Chrome Trim Ring
Make that the headlamp bucket and the new trim ring line up.
Attach the trim ring’s upper lip to the headlight’s upper retaining groove.
To position the trim ring, swing it down.
Reinstall the bottom holding screw, making sure it is snug but not too tight.
4. Final Check
Verify that the trim ring is snug and flush.
To get rid of fingerprints, use a microfiber cloth to clean the chrome.
If you disconnected the battery, reconnect it.
To make sure everything is operating as it should, turn on the headlight.
